If you are like me so many times we say in different seasons that we are giving thanks for things like life, job, family, house, cars, etc... But do we really think about God when we say those things that we are thankful for? I can say that I'm thankful for my spouse, but am I really thinking about the God of the universe, who brought me my spouse and joined us together as one in marriage? It's only when I begin to think about that spouse or that car or whatever it is I'm giving thanks for and where it came from, that I can by faith, bring God into my thoughts.
The thing is if you are a believer in God then he is the giver of everything that you and I am thankful for! Think about this verse from
1 Thessalonians 5:17-19
New International Version (NIV)
17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
