Hello,
in our Devotion for today lets look at Matthew 5:19 from the Message Bible
19-20 “Trivialize even the smallest item in God’s Law and you will only have trivialized yourself. But take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the kingdom. Unless you do far better than the Pharisees in the matters of right living, you won’t know the first thing about entering the kingdom.
There is a great song and movie with the same title out today "Gods Not Dead" the song lyrics go on to say "He's surely alive". God is saying to us today that he is alive! "Take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the kingdom." In the midst of our busy, busy, self centered days Jesus is reminding us in October 2014 "Trivialize even the smallest item in God’s Law and you will only have trivialized yourself" in other words his word the Bible is the account of his love for you and I and in the Bible is his plan for you and I. You know I can begin to push God out of my day so quickly and easily just by not paying any attention to him, just thinking that "I got this" or not thinking at all about him.
In the Bible is the story of Gods son Jesus Christ, sent to save the world, that's you and I from ourselves. Get to know him, read about him, talk to him, then believe in him by faith. John 3:16-18 in the Message Bible says that,
16-18 “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
Make a choice with me today, right now, where ever you are to get to know him. Make getting to know him, a priority in your life. "But take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the kingdom."
